The Tarantulas

While digging though old pictures in the computer, JD and I found these that were taken last fall sometime. For those of you who don't know JD loves his spiders and bugs. It all started with these little guys, tail less whip scorpions, they are COMPLETELY HARMLESS. They even ate these guys on fear factor, no thanks!
Jason is holding this little female that JD named Twigless.

Here is Jason and the kids investigating Ms. Twigless. They are really fragile so I was a little worried for her while this was going on, but Madison loves them just as much as JD does.

This is JD holding his very first tarantula spiderling. This is Putch (JD names all of our spiders so they have some strange names). He will grow up to be big and black and eat crickets JD says.

Here is Madison checking out Putch.

I know most people are a little freaked out by spiders and Tarantulas, so was I up until last year. But I am glad I was able to overcome my fears because this is something the whole family enjoys and can participate in. When it's time to take care of the tarantulas, the whole family is in there most of the time, and we do it together, which is nice. JD has been able to take in molts from the tarantulas to his school so all the kids can investigate them. Jason has also taken in live tarantulas for JD's show and tell. The kids love it and hopefully we can help kids with the fears of them so they don't go through life standing on a chair screaming for someone to come kill the spider that's crawling across the floor, like I used to do.

Just for info all the tarantulas are harmless. It's no worse than a bee sting if someone does get bitten but we do not make habit out of holding them. This is the only time JD has ever held one. Jason and I were more scared for the little spider than for JD.....LOL.

What we did today

Today it was a nice day outside, so after JD arrived home from pre school we went outside to play and have lunch. The kids love to play on the back deck in the afternoons. It's extremely hard to get them in the house. I took a few videos while we were outside. It's hard to hear what the kids are saying because it was windy outside. Enjoy.

Tonight the school is having a get together at Bonkers, a huge indoor playground that we are taking the kids to. The kids love to go and play, run around, go down the slides. Madison generally sits at the top of the slide in the toddler section and yells "GO, GO, GO" at the kids when they come to the top, it's hilarious. JD loves it all and I'm sure some of his friends from school will be there. After two intense hours of play, we are going out for pizza so the kids can refuel and Jason can play bad music on the juke box.

Other things JD did while out east

JD helped Great Grandma clean her basement

He went for a hair cut

He played with the horses at Grandma Donna's

Here is Grandma Donna's special plates. Two Christmas' ago, the kids made plates for both grandma's at this neat little pottery shop in town. They had a blast decorating the plates and to my amazement, only a small amount of paint was eaten. I have been asking for a set of these plates since we did this, and well I guess I didn't draw a good enough picture and haven't gotten them yet. Guess this summer I will have to take them myself....LOL.

JD let Grandpa Labaw read the paper while at the beach. This is almost an impossible task at my house and something I miss....LOL.

This is JD wondering what happened to the other half of Grandpa Ken's wolf!

That is JD's trip out east. His comments coming later today. It's too boring to sit here while mom downloads the pictures. I didn't receive any feedback on if the videos work or not so I guess I will put them up and if you can view them wonderful. If you can't, well high speed internet is the most wonderful thing since sliced bread. Without it this blog would be impossible for me to do!

JD at the beach

Last September JD went to the beach with Grandma and Grandpa Labaw! As you can see he had a blast at the "big sand box" as he calls it.

One of his favorite things was sleeping in the hotel!

JD didn't want to come down to explain his thoughts on this right now because his favorite show is on, so he informed me that he would be down in a minute, how fast they grow up. So I will add JD's thoughts soon.

Posting Comments & videos

I fixed the comments so that anyone can post and you don't have to sign up for blogger.com. Sorry about that, I should have checked it out sooner. To post a comment, click on the comment link, it will have a number in front of it as to how many comments have been left. That will take you to the screen where you can type in your comment. Under the Choose an identity, if you click other, a place will pop up for you to type your name. Then hit the publish button and it should post your comment. Any questions, let me know!

I have been working on posting short videos of the kids onto the blog. I think I have figured it out. I don't know how this is going to work on a dial up connection. I would like some feedback on this please because right now I have a free trail to this hosting company, but to continue it will cost around $50 a year, so I don't want to subscribe if it's not working properly for everyone. So please email or post a comment on if it's working for you or not. Thanks so much and enjoy the videos, I hope it works!

Backtracking a little

I thought everyone might like to see some pictures of Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, etc. So I dug though my computer last night and pulled out a few. We will start out with our trip to the zoo last summer. It was hot but the kids had a blast. And JD made friends with this goat...LOL

Next is Thanksgiving, we were at my mothers and Madison thought Cole, my nephew, was a doll and wanted to hug him all day and carry him around. She does it everytime she sees him.

This is JD 4th Birthday party. Madison looks like she is going to tear that dinosaur off at any minute.

This is Madison all dressed up in her cute Christmas outfit at Grandma Clarks house. It last all of about 1 hour (longer than I thought it would) before she stripped down to her diaper. Madison hates clothes.

This is at Great Grandma & Grandpa Hoeners on Christmas Eve. Madison was dressed but again, it didn't last long. She had gotten a doll for Christmas and couldn't get it out of the package, so I enlisted the help of Ashley's boyfriend, Jesse, to help her get it out. She stood in front of him the whole time, yelling at him. She wanted her doll. Once she got it out, she didn't open any more presents, she had what she wanted. Zach is sitting next to Jesse with his nice spiked hair! Teenagers! For those of you who don't know, Ashley is my younger sister.

I love it when Madison lays down like this with her little legs crossed, it's so cute. And of course Duck is protecting her from anything that moves outside.

JD wanted to show everyone his snake. This is gophie the gopher snake. He is very proud of his snake. JD says he eats mice and not rats, and he hides in the bushes.

That is all I have for now. I am still learning how all the bells and whistles of this blog work, so bear with me. I am going to try to update a few times a week, so check back often. JD is also waiting for a comment so please post. Click on the comment link and it should let you post a comment.

Coming soon.....JD at the beach with Grandma & Grandpa Labaw!
